MATGUARD Plays Integral Role in Long Branch Wrestling Team's Success
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 2, 2009
LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Long Branch wrestling team was voted the number one program in the New Jersey Wrestling Coaches Association Top 25 Poll. It is the first Monmouth County school to be voted No. 1 in the 26-year history of the NJWCA Poll.
Head Wrestling Coach Dan George, Region VI Coach of the year, credited MATGUARD as an integral part of the team's success. “Not one kid missed a match due to skin problems. This allowed us to be at full strength all year. This had a tremendous benefit because of our extremely tough schedule and high caliber opponents.”
Matguard proudly salutes the accomplishment of the Long Branch wrestling team and entire community. “Long Branch has demonstrated that hard work, sportsmanship and belief in the team can get you to your ultimate goal” according to Tom Bunge, President of Matguard. He added “Long Branch earned the number one ranking. We were happy our product allowed them to keep their wrestlers on the mat.”
This year Long Branch won its first NJSIAA district team title in 24 years as well as the NJSIAA Group II and Shore Conference Tournament championships for the second year in a row.
